The Knights Templar - Jerusalem Cross is a beautifully crafted rendition of the Jerusalem Cross which has been the enigma and crest of the crusaders from the 11th and 12th centuries. The central cross is in the colour of gold because it is the representation of the Spirit of God or as Jerusalem being the centre of the Catholic faith. It is said that the Jerusalem Cross meant the Spirit of God was supreme above all the other elements of Earth, Water, Wind and Fire. This cross symbolizes a perfect symbol of faith and devotion.
Originally, the Jerusalem Cross was the emblem of the first order of crusaders and Knights Templar which is the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. This order of knighthood was the military arm of the Holy See. The Pope himself was the supreme leader of the order and commanded them to save Jerusalem from invaders. They also believed that this cross aside from representing the Spirit, also represented the Holy Gospels of Mark, Mathew, Luke and John, having Jesus as the centre of everything. The Order of the Holy Sepulchre as well as the Knights Templar devoted their lives into redeeming the Holy City but in the end they did lose the battle. And although the crusaders where eventually defeated by the Muslims in 1291, many still go to pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to become knights because they feel that this church in Jerusalem sealed their knighthood. It was said that although they did not win this battle, they were able to gain knowledge and wealth beyond compare. They were able to obtain a secret which is protected until this day.
The Knights named themselves Knights Templar because they made Solomon’s Temple their abode; the place built to honour God’s gift of enlightenment and wisdom to Solomon. The Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem sits in the Temple Mount. It is the first Holy Temple dedicated to Yahweh. To honour wisdom of the King Solomon, the Knights named their league in his in after his Holy Temple.
The Knights Templar – Jerusalem Cross is pendant that if fit for those who wish to remind themselves of the quest of enlightenment and success both in this world and the next. It is a fitting symbol that provides the bearer blessing from the Spirit and the Gospels. It is also a wonderful memory of the honour of Knight who devoted their lives for the church.
